PERDANA Menteri, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim mengumumkan pengecualian bayaran tol di lebuh raya pada 20 dan 21 Januari ini bersempena dengan sambutan Tahun Baharu Cina.
Bercakap dalam sidang akhbar hari ini, Anwar berkata perkara itu diputuskan selepas Menteri Pengangkutan dan Menteri Kerja Raya mengambil inisiatif berbincang dengan syarikat konsesi lebuhraya terlibat.
Menurut laporan, pengecualian ini melibatkan implikasi kewangan berjumlah RM40 juta.
“Kami berharap dengan mengetepikan caj tol selama dua hari, ia akan membolehkan semua rakyat Malaysia menikmati perjalanan semasa Tahun Baharu Cina. Nasihat saya kepada pengguna jalan raya adalah supaya berhati-hati di jalan raya,” katanya selepas mempengerusikan mesyuarat mingguan Kabinet.
