Hyundai sertai cabaran Pikes Peak dengan empat Ioniq 5 N
SAINGAN Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) yang akan berlangsung pada Jun depan akan menyaksikan Hyundai mempertaruhkan empat jentera Ioniq 5 N bagi membuktikan kemampuan EV itu.
Dua daripadanya adalah versi produksi yang telah diubah suai bagi memastikan ia mematuhi peraturan keselamatan, manakala dua lagi telah dimodifikasi sepenuhnya.
Pertama sekali, kerusi pemandu digantikan dengan kerusi Recaro Pro Racer SPA Hans, yang dipadankan dengan tali pinggang keledar enam poin Sabelt yang boleh digunakan dengan HANS. Kerusi belakang turut dikeluarkan bagi membolehkan roll cage dan sistem pemadam api dipasang.
Di samping modifikasi ini, Ioniq 5 N PPIHC tidak ubah seperti versi produksi yang terdapat dalam pasaran. Ia dipacu oleh sepasang motor elektrik yang menjana kuasa keseluruhan sebanyak 601 hp atau 641 hp jika N Grin Boost diaktifkan.
Dengan kuasa maksimum dan N Launch Control, Hyundai mendakwa ia boleh memecut dari 0 hingga 100 km/j dalam 3.25 saat sebelum mencapai kelajuan maksimum 260 km/j.
Menggalas cabaran Hyundai di PPIHC adalah Paul Dallenbach dan Ron Zaras. Dallenbach pernah memenangi perlumbaan PPIHC sebanyak 11 kali, manakala Zaras pula merupakan personaliti media dan bekas eksekutif Hoonigan.
Sementara itu, Ioniq 5 N versi yang dimodifikasi akan dikendalikan oleh pemandu WRC untuk Hyundai Motorsport iaitu Dani Sordo dan pemegang gelaran King of the Mountain di Pikes Peak, Robin Shute.
Sebelum beraksi di PPIHC, kedua-dua jentera tersebut juga akan bertanding di Nurburgring 24 Hours pada 30 Mei ini.
